International Capoeira Angola Foundation (ICAF)

The International Capoeira Angola Foundation (ICAF or FICA) led by Mestre Jurandir is a non-profit humanities organization which advocates the practice, maintenance and growth of the traditional African Brazilian art form of Capoeira Angola. For the past ten years, ICAF has been sponsoring a weekley schedule of classes, training in the movement, music, philosophy and spiritual cosmology of Capoeira Angola. ICAF has also sponsored ten International Capoeira Angola Encounters. These Encounters draw diverse patronage of mestres and students from Brazil, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the USA. In order to promote an understanding of Capoeira Angola's unique culteral context, ICAF sponsors many workshops, lectures, and discussions on issues of sociology, cultural anthropology and ethnomusicology.
