A port in Newfoundland.
Literally meaning "island of the dead". It is located on the
south-western tip of Newfoundland, near Cape Bretton Island.
The island got its name
from the numerous shipwrecks that plagues its tiny shores in the 19th
century. The most infamous was the shipwreck of the Despatch.
In 1828, the ship was carrying Irish immigrants to Quebec, when it
came upon heavy fog and crashed. Many of the immigrants were
saved by seventeen year old Ann Harvey, and her family, including her
Newfoundland dog.
