BMW M3 Sedan (E46) BMW announced that the E46 M3 will debut as a coupe and there is no initial incentive to build M3 Sedan. BMW's standpoint seems quite clear with the M5 carrying the duties of a 4-door supercar in the 'M' lineup. Since 5-series is due for a redesign around year 2002, M5 may be phased out for couple of years, which would create a perfect opportunity for M3 Sedan. Such car would employ all of M3 Coupe mechanicals in a more sober looking bodystyle. It would carry on the 'muscular 4-door' looks of M5 in a more agile package. This M3 Sedan is shown on 18" replicas of M RoadStar wheels, as first shown on the M roadster/M coupe (17" on those cars).

The visual drama would be provided by 'M' specific colour range, aerodynamic aids including different bumpers, sport mirrors and Shadowline trim package.
