Hmmm.... where do I begin? Smashing Pumpkins!!! (Maybe because I just saw them live in concert and their talent and everything else is fresh in my mind)... Their talent is beyond words, at least for me, I've been their fan for quite a long time, before they were trendy (if they ever truly got trendy) but for awhile, at least. Luckily for me, I know a few people and they had favours to return, so at the very last minute I was rewarded with tickets to their concert at Massey Hall in Toronto....5th from the front, amazing seats, amazing view, amazing show, amazing people...
I must give them mad props for being so human as opposed to the other money-hungry Puff Daddies around the world.. the tour they are doing right now is all charity based, on youth groups for the most part.. the show I went to sent all proceeds to S.O.S, a program against youth and prostitution, etc., etc., and the 340some odd dollars that MY tickets went to, along with quite a few others, raised one-twenty-six thousand dollars, 30 some odd cents, an extreme amount of gratitude and respect was returned to the band for being so selfless. Personally, to me the tickets did not seem too expensive as I know it was NOT some selfish prick band who is entirely image, it was for a good cause and will help many people, a couple of which who I know... so for the time being, I am satisfied with the price of my tickets. I would honestly suggest to anyone who hasn't yet bought Adore to do so RIGHT away... it is an amazing album, extremely mellow and gratifying to listen to. From a musical standpoint, they have wonderful techniques in capturing emotions... their music takes me to a level of .... I dunno relaxation or some other bullshit like that, and I have been able to smile, sing, dance, sleep and cry to this album all the same. In general, it is an amazing album and I definitely recommend it.
and they couldn't do it!!!! I'm not saying I'm some giant Sarah Groupie (although I am) but at least have some respect for her wonderful talent, and for the talent of the rest of her band. Sarah has the deepest lyrics and the most amazing melodies, tunes that both comfort and sadden you when you listen to her singing, her ability to touch me with a song is unbelievable and I thank her for existing. I went out and bought a songbook so I can play a few of my favourite songs (piano/guitar) .... if you want an album that ANYONE can enjoy, I recommend Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, it is mellow as well as thought provoking, and extremely touching... her songs hold a lot of meaning, and there is at LEAST one song that people can relate to, I guarantee it. She is an amazing amazing woman who needs to be appreciated for her TALENT and not her latest album. Listen up, people!!!
with a name and a sound and a way to life all their own, enduring a few short years of fame which ended in the tragic death of a wonderful poet. Hey... I am not a pathetic little druggie who thinks ''hey, man, he's cool ... heh heh heh'' because those people disgust me. If you want some lyrics to pay attention to, listen to the Lizard King and invest in some music by the Doors. I promise you will look at music differently.
Radiohead is a very strange band, and I give them much respect and I love their music.. from Pablo Honey to OK Computer, they have a wide variety of styles and moods in their music.... sung with velvety Thom Yorke's voice, extremely original and with wonderful use of their instruments, you can hear talent and talent and more talent (I need a fucking thesaurus) on The Bends for sure, and I promise (guarantee) that this album is one that can be played and overplayed and not sound like a broken record.
