Return of the 1985 Chevrolet Cavalier 4 Cylinder Wagon Derby Car

I decided to re-use this car in 2004 and go have some fun in Shannonville with it. Thanks to Ben at Tim's Southern Truck parts, we spend an entire afternoon trying to get the back end back up. Tim suggested we crush the back so we took the time and did it. I was very impressed with how the car looked once we were all done. The car looked stout as ever. My good friend Chuck and I changed the front bumper with a 90+ Sunbird one from Tim's yard and it was good to go! Got out there in my heat and wasn't doing too bad until I took a driver's side tire shot and it broke the tie-rod early on. Ever try to drive a front wheel drive with only one wheel steer? Not easy to point it at someone. Had to do my best and hang in there and then it came down to two of us. We decided to call it so I took first in the heat. Tried to fix the car for the feature by using the only accesable thing we had (wire!) to wire the heck out of the tierod on the driver's side to the inner fender in hopes it would hold (I could at least drive somewhat straight with it wired!). It broke lining up in the ring. DRAT! So I had to drive the entire feature also with no steering on the one side. Took and dished out many good hits and then got stuffed into a corner I couldn't spin my way out of..(ha ha ha). Got counted out but took 3rd. What a blast! First time ever in Shannonville and this car sure is WRECKED now!! The picture below is how it looked part way through the bumper conversion, but with the back "pack" done.
