1989 Mazda 323 4 Door 4 Cylinder Derby Car
This car was picked up in Newmarket from the local Mazda Dealer (Dave Wood Mazda). They were having a clearance sale on a bunch of the old trade-ins so I went down and waited in line with about 15 other people to get in at 8:00AM. I saw this car listed in the local paper but it didn't mention it was a 4 door sedan. I was expecting it to be the hatchback to which I may have not bought it. I went right over to it once the gates opened and they had boosted it to show it ran. The front end damage is kinda bad in the sense that the rad is bent around the fan and there are brackets that are interferring with the front steering. This car was purchased for the sum of $49.00.
This car was run in the Friday Belleville Demolition Derby (August 28, 2003). The car did AMAZINGLY well! The rad held in there (which is amazing for anyone who has seen it before the derby!) and I took second place. First place went to my good friend Jason Parks (#11 which used to be a Hyundai Excel) who I helped to build the winning car. CONGRATS ON THE FIRST EVER DERBY WIN, JAY!!!! We had it all built for Belleville in 2002 but the derby was full when he tried to enter it. His car is still good for another go so he will use it in Belleville 2004!
