1959 Ford 4 Door - Sparrow Lake Winter Derby!
Extra special Thanks go out to Don Turner of Mad Dog Racing who donated this car so I'd be able to cure that hunger I had to drive a full size car again! I'd never done a winter derby yet (been to many to watch!) and the derby was two days before my birthday. Can't get any better present than this! Went out in the heat and really had a hard time getting traction. Dished out a few hits and got stuck. Once freed after the heat was over, the car moved under it's own power. Took it back out for the hard luck heat and only had to beat 2 cars to make it to the feature. Spun the car around to dish out some hits and got plowed in the passenger side stuffing me into the snow bank. Couldn't get out so my fun was over. Or was it? There was a 50/50 run after the feature was over where everyone tossed in $20 and winner took 50% home and the other 50% went to the Sparrow Lake community. Took the car out and dished out (and received!) quite a few hits. Got hung up on another car and dragged him back and forth a while until we both got counted out. What a fun ride though.
