Introduction:                                        

University education should be one of the great experiences in life - exciting, rewarding and full of enjoyment. It must be academically
challenging and rigorous of course. The courses and facilities provided in UAAR reflect our commitment to these principles and to
achievement of excellence in teaching, informed by leading edge research. UAAR is providing a supportive environment with opportunities
for the full range of cultural, social, recreational and sporting activities.
 
The University of Arid Agriculture, Rawalpindi is well aware of the importance of this comprehensive experience and in an excellent position
to meet all these varied requirements. It is dynamic and forward looking, but upholds the traditional university values.

The lively and friendly atmosphere, the diversity of activities taking place n the campus and the many facilities on offer combine to ensure
that the University of Arid Agriculture, Rawlpindi is a real community in which individuals students can develop their own interest and attain
their full potential. 
Pakistan is predominantly an agricultural country. In the 1970s, the government of Pakistan constituted a Barani Commission to review and
recommend measures for the development of rain fed agriculture and uplift the poor masses through education, research, and development
of technology and manpower.

Pursuant to the recommendations of Barani Commission, the government of Pakistan established Barani Agriculture College, Rawalpindi
which was later upgraded to the university in 1994.

The university includes:                                                                                                                                                                             

1.         Faculty of Crops and Food Sciences.
2.     Faculty of Sciences.
3.     Faculty of Live Sock and Range Management.
4.     Directorate of Advanced Studies.
5.     Directorate of Research.           
6.     University Institute of Management Sciences.
7.     Center for Information Technology.
8.     Division of Continuing Education.
9.     Home Economics and Women Development.

 Pursuit of excellence on the university campus is a function of competent and dedicated university faculty. The university has therefore made constant efforts at staff development with the result that nearly 40% of the faculty possesses P.H.D degrees, while the others have M.Sc (Hons) and M.Phil degrees.
