I've had a lot going on and in the last week had my brain injury start working against me. I've been having to deal with the same kind of sleeping spells I dealt with the last six months of last year. Because I had it planned and was working on getting the newsletter updated by June 01. But I will be working on the websites when I am able to this summer minus the days I'm having to deal with sleeping spells....if I haven't said it yet, it sucks to be living with a left/right TBI.
In other news, I have downloaded some really awesome web programs I will be playing with this summer to get a new and refreshed look for the website. This is an election year. BUT we must think about how it will effect everyone. In the articles from me I will have my two sense on the subject. You will notice some pages are really pretty much blank. That is because I really would like to welcome those of you who come to the site to submit information to go on those pages.
In terms of my political activity, U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe's re-election campaign requested information to have to lay out at their events for TBI Raiders. Last month I sent them several items to have at their events. I have made two more orders here in the last week and mailed it on Friday. One of the orders is going to be sent to Oklahoma State Representative Danny Morgan for his re-election campaign. The other stuff I will send some with my dad to take when I see him. My dad is in the Army Reserves and he isn't overseas. He's still in the state here where we live. Then one of my contacts at the County Health Department has requested to have information there to hand out to people.
TBI Raiders was originally set up a few years ago only to be an online club. But has grown into so much more thanks to support from many people, including a lot of Traumatic Brain Injury survivors who WANTED to see some change done. One thing has stayed the same though in regards to the purpose of TBI Raiders. This group was created to help and support students who have a TBI...along with educating the public.
The purpose of this club is to see that students with a TBI succeed. As well as educate the communities we live in so that treatment and understanding will be better for those of us with TBI. Anyone is welcome to join the club that wants to help get awareness out and learn more about our disability. If you'd like to create better study habits, have specific chats scheduled, or something along the line of that would be helpful to students...then go ahead. If there is anything about politics within this site it will be about how it can help individuals with a traumatic brain injury. We only wish to work towards a common goal and to get others to work together and for others, if this applies to them, to get over their egos!
Look for more to come on the site!
Look for the newsletter to be updated four times a year. The issues will come out in August, November, January, and May.
