Tournaments
Dr. Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo said: "Competition is the Soul of Judo."
Tournaments are a great way to hone and test one's developing skills in a competitive environment among equals. Tournaments are also a means of gaining credits toward Judo ranking. It is in no way required for the Judo student but for those who are interested the SRJC Judo program provides plenty of opportunity for participation or simply observation of the Judo Tournament experience.

The USJA is an Internationally recognized Judo organization. Judo rank received from the USJA is valid anywhere you go to train in the world. The standards for those promotions are clearly spelled out and are fair to all. There is never any doubt about what a student needs to achieve a higher belt. Membership in the USJA also provides the student with Insurance that covers the medical expenses that could be incurred because of possible accidents due to participation in authorized tournaments.
