Expenses
Besides
the normal expense for the accompany text, the most important expense
for the practice of Judo is the Gi or uniform. The Gi is mandatory
and is vital to the practice of Judo. It can be purchased through
the Instructor for approximately $45 or you can bring your own. However,
we do not recommend that you try using a Karate Gi. Judo Gi's are
specially padded for falling ( and in Judo you will take a lot of
falls) and protects the body...the karate gi is rougher and tends
to create the effect of rope burns on the back and arms; however,
you may discover this for yourself if you are so inclined. As we say
in Judo, "Pain is optional!" Because Judo is potentially a "rough"
sport, we do the most we can to make it easy and safe.
