RHODES

Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands, is not an ordinary holiday resort but a cosmopolitan place of international reputation. Indeed, this relatively limited space, endowed with innumerable natural beauties, is rightly considered a tourists' Paradise. Holidays here are not restricted to the three summer months, as the sunny period lasts much longer.

In Rhodes everyone can choose their preferred type of holiday - the intensity of an excellently equipped major resort or the peace and quiet of a small, traditional seaside or mountain village.

Swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Rhodes is equally fascinating on populous beaches or on isolated pebbled seashores.

Sports Windsurfing. If you don't have a surfboard, you can rent on the island. Also you can play tennis, Golf and water-ski.

Night Life Everything you could ask you'll find it here. Discos, bars, pubs and a Casino, are doing their best to give you a great time.

Opinion/ our experiences Rhodes, especially Faliraki is another one of my favourites. I personally think that Faliraki has got everything for people my age. Faliraki is about 25 minutes by taxi from Rhodes town and not that expensive. Faliraki has a long white sandy beach, vast amounts of accommodation which is well needed, a street just wall to wall with bars, ironically enough called ‘Bar Street’ and another street with clubs called… ‘Club Street’, there are a variety of restaurants, all reasonably prices, although due to the vast array of tourists, most of the food is fried with the occasional Greek Taverna, many things to do for the brave, like Bungee Jumps, a Sling Shot (the backwards to a Bungee) and a ________

Our accommodation in Faliraki was centrally located, just behind bar street, with the beach just down the road, our room had a bathroom, three single beds, even though there was only 2 of us, a fridge and a huge balcony. We even had a swimming pool next door which was open to the public and really nice. The room cost 14 pounds a night each, although this is more than we would have liked to have paid it was exactly what we wanted and to be honest arriving in peak time like we did, I don’t think we would have found much cheaper, that was the cheapest we found and all the cheaper hotels we full. As for things to do during the day in Faliraki there isn’t much except to take your time and chill out and sunbath, but at night there are plenty of bars, pubs and clubs to keep you entertained until the early hours of the morning. Drinks and cheap with offers such as buy one get one free and you must try the famous Fishbowls, which are large 2/3/4/5 litre bowls filled with spirits and mixers and you are given straws and you just sit round with a group of friends and drink the lot. We have had to help many people out, as they are harder to finish than they look especially if there are not very many of you and you have gone for the largest one going! Even though Faliraki is beginning to get a reputation for violence and rape, I felt perfectly safe and as long as you use your common sence, i.e keep an eye on your drink and try and stay out of trouble you should have a wicked time!

Although enough about Faliraki, if your looking for some culture, then Lindos is the place to go. There are many day trips to Lindos by boat, which is what we did or you can drive or get a bus there. The bay itself is small and beach is crowed, but walk the narrow streets to the top of the Acropolis and it will be worth the while. Although they charge you to see it and they were doing some construction work on it when we visited we still have a nice day in the atmospheric Lindos.
