As Christians, we are to be learning and growing to be Christlike. The Fruit of the Spirit are attributes of Christ's character that we should be developing in our own as we learn and grow. This booklet is short and easy to read, but explains what the Fruit are and how we can develop them in our own lives.

I want to tell you a story about someone I knew previously. This was a guy that most people looked at as a little odd, and I guess from the world’s standards, he probably was. When it came to Spiritual things, though, this guy was pretty awesome! He worked at a job where he made minimum wage. Even though he was single, that wasn’t much. Yet, he gave about 1/3 of it to the church in tithes and offerings. On top of that if he knew someone was in need, he would1 buy them groceries or whatever he could do to help, as the Lord led him. If he saw someone in church who was in financial difficulty and they didn’t have an offering to give, he would slip them $20 and tell them to use it as a seed. As a result, his needs were always met and he always had enough to meet other needs as the Lord led him to. He was always looking for someone to bless - waiting to hear God’s voice as to what to do in different circumstances.
I was raising 2 grandchildren at this time and I was working long hours for a chiropractor - on my feet all day doing x-rays and walking the halls. He would stop by almost every evening just see if I needed anything that he could do to help: get something from the store for me, put gas in my car if it was low, etc. He gave with no thought as to what he was going to get from it. He told me it was his gift to me as his friend.
One evening he came in laughing so hard the tears were almost running down his face. It seems he had been feeling low all day and was having one of his daily conversations with God on his way over, and God had told him he was a fruit basket. After feeling a bit insulted and wondering why God would be calling him names, he asked what He meant by that. He was told he was a fruit basket - filled with love, joy, peace, long-suffering.... and so on.
