Past Litters.

Monday 11th July 2005

Been very slow putting these special kittens onto the site, but if you pop over to see Dolly you'll see the kittens that her daughter Miracle provided for us.

Friday 18th March 2005

Both sets of kittens are doing well. Harmony is adapting well to motherhood while Melody has worked out the most comfortable way to feed 15 hungry mouths.

Both mums are protective but handling the kittens is much easier. Melody will hop out of the cage by herself now for her cuddles.

We seem to have 3 roans and 10 mixed blacks and agoutis from Harmony's litter but we'll see for sure once they get a bit older.

Thursday 17th March 2005

Yesterday Harmony presented us with 14 little babies. This mating came about because Melody decided that instead of putting weight on in her first week, she'd lose some which made us think she hadn't taken.

Rather than put poor old Barney through the mating ritual again, we decidied that Bam Bam, our Best In Show winner, should do the honours.

Lo and Behold Melody piles on the grams and Harmony followed suit, all be it at a slower rate.

As Harmony didn't get as big we hoped that she was having a smaller litter, but no, 14 little children.

All got through the night but, today nature took a hand and took one of the little ones to play with the two from Melody's litter at rainbow bridge.

On a brighter note, Melody's litter is progressing really well. We have 9 Agouti's, 3 Agouti Roans, 2 Black agoutis and 1 Black. More pictures of both litters and sexes to follow.

Sunday 13th March 2005

The babies are one week old today and all were doing fine.

Saturday 12th March 2005

Melody and her sixteen little babies are doing really well.

We appear to have 6 roans and 10 which appear to be blacks.

We think there ae 7 bucks and 9 does, but as ever that's likely to change LOL.

Mum is very protective, but we do get the babies out twice a day for a short time.

Tuesday 8th March 2005

Unfortunately 17 has proved to be too many and nature has decided that the littlest one has had to go to rainbow bridge. The remaining 16 look good with strong milkbands, however, there are a couple of quite small ones that we will have to keep an eye on.

On a lighter note we appear to have a number of roans, all be it some are mismarked, some dark possibly blacks and agoutis.

Melody is very protective so it's still quite difficult to handle the babies, so we are restricting ourselves to short durations so Melody doesn't get overly stressed, she is however a superb mum.

Pictures to follow soon.

Sunday 6th March 2005, Mother's day

Well we thought she was big and a very quick count of the babies explains why, a massive 17 babies, biggest litter we've had by far.

All the babies look fine but had to be hurried as Melody jumped back into the cage to tell us off for looking so early.

Going to be a busy time, lots of supplements to make sure that all 17 receive plenty of nourishment.

Sunday 6th March 2005, Mother's day

Today Melody became a mother, quite the appropriate day really. We're not sure how many she's had but there are at least 12.

During her pregnancy, Melody has been a bit huffy so we are giving her a chance to settle down a bit and get used to the little ones.

Will likely have half and half, roans and agoutis so watch this space if you're interested in providing a loving home.

Sunday 12th December 2004

With everything that has happened with this litter, we decided that they really should have their own page.

Please take the time to go visit Dolly and her babies to find out the latest installment of their traumatic life.

Many thanks

Saturday 23rd October.

The babies have reached the baby elephant stage, they never seem to sleep and make even more noise when we're in bed.

The good news is that they have all been reserved, so many thanks to those who enquired.

Pictures at 3 1/2 weeks.

Wednesday 5th October 2004.

The babies are nearly two weeks old now and they blossoming nicely. They have changed considerably and it now looks like we've got agouti roans and agouti roan carriers.

We have 7 bucks and 4 does. There are 4 roan bucks and 2 roan does. We are keeping 1 of the bucks, Bam Bam who will hopefully follow ing his grandad's footsteps, or should that be paw steps?

We've finally had our second litter. It's taken a while because our planned matings weren't to be, and for no apparent reason, maybe it's been the heat linked with moving house.

However, Andy, without my knowledge, decided to have one last try with Husky Rats Betty and Ratty Rascals Barney, who is the son of Watermans Dudley, Andy's favourite. We'd tried the two of them together a couple of times without result so, when I was on nights and couldn't say anything, they spent the night together.

On Friday afternoon (23/9/04) at about 1630hrs betty presented us with 11 delightful little kittens (unfortunately there was a 12th but nature decided it wasn't to be so it was still born). We have no idea yet what we've got but there is plenty of time for that.

Betty is being very protective of her babies, we have handled them but everytime they go back betty gives them a complete clean and then buries them and herself under the bedding as if to say " they're mine and you not getting to see us in our intimate moments".

More info to follow!!!!!

We have finally taken the plunge and tried our first mating, which probably would not have happened if it were not for the advice and assistance we received from Alison Campbell at Shunamite Rats

After a few false starts, our Superstar, Shunamite Merlin and his girlfriend Lanies Guenevere look to have worked out what goes where and our first litter looks imminent. The wait is killing us but hopefully everything will go well and we'll be able to broadcast the good news soon.

Watch this space !!!
