Help Qin Wei!

Our beloved friends,

Our 2 years old daughter, Qin Wei is suffering from a rare disease called Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). Like any other kids, Qin Wei was a healthy child before this. She started with high fever and was hospitalized on 1st July 04. The Pediatrician found out she has liver & spleen enlargement and her platelets count was really low. It could be a whole list of diseases and they did all sorts of blood test to find out the cause. After a week, she actually showed improvement but unfortunately it got worsen 2 days later. The Pediatrician got Dr. Lin who is a Paediatric Haematologist in to check on her. Dr. Lin suggested both blood & bone marrow test. From the result, Dr. Lin confirmed that Qin Wei is suffering from HLH. HLH can only be treated with chemotherapy and if it fails, the last resort will be Bone Marrow transplant. Qin Wei went through 5 rounds of chemotherapy. We could see how much she suffered after each course of chemotherapy but we have no choice as that was the only treatment. Her condition deteriorated last Sunday and she is now treated in the ICU.

Dr. Lin has confirmed that her disease carries with it a high risk of mortality and the only way to save her life is with Bone Marrow Transplant as soon as her condition is stable. Every day there is fear, we are reminded the mortality of it at anytime unless Bone Marrow transplant is carried out successfully. The cost of operation is estimated to be RM 200,000.00 (appx. US$52,631) excluding post procedures treatment (pls see attached letter from Dr. Lin).

We are reaching out to each and every one of you in giving any form of financial support to realize this operation. Whether it is big or small amount, each donation will definitely help to save the life of a child.

For those who wish to help, we would appreciate if you could forward your donation with the help of OK Group by Paypal.

I would think it is important that every one of you be aware of such disease, as many children were not given a chance in fighting the disease due to delay in diagnosis.

Our sincere appreciation to your support & assistance.

Best regards,
