Legends Review - Part 3: Event Cards (A)
 By Frodo Fett

Light World Map-
This is the kinda card you base a deck around. Boosting up all your Courage Characters by one when at the appropriate Battlesite, this card can make the smallest armies into fighting machines. This is a must for all Courage decks with at least a few weak characters.
Rating: 9

Dark World Map-
This is basically the same as Light World Map, except for Power Characters.
Rating: 9

Fairy Encounter-
This is a nifty little card, perfect for decks that rely on a certain Character, particularly one that is weak. I can provide that needed healing of one of your major fighting Characters or keep a Character-centered combo alive for a few more turns. It's a decent and flexible tool that will be the basis of healing Events in future sets.
Rating: 8

Maiden Crystal-
Right now, this card ain't so hot. Maybe in later sets, when more maiden's are released, this card's rating will go up a few notches but right now it's little more than a Zelda-fetching device. With few maidens, this card has little potential to dominate any tournaments. Don't bother with this card right now.
Rating: 3

Lightening Storm-
This card is the kind that completly finished off an opponent. If you position yourself right and have the upper hand, you can deal a crushing blow to your opponent, especially if he planned on running away from the fight. Heck, if you play 2 or 3 of these in a row, the games over. Unfortunately, since this card only shines on select occasions, it not nearly as flexible as, say Fairy Encounter.
Rating: 6

Storm-blown Ship-
Need some extra rupees? I always liked card-for-points type of cards, and this one is pretty decent. Although this can pretty much wipe out your hand in a turn, if you need to play something really big early, this is the card to do it. If you're an expert deck-builder, you can easily form a system of playing huge creatures on turn one with this, and without throwing something valuable away.
Rating: 6

Item Pouch-
This card is a staple in almost every deck. It's basically another copy of any item. It reproduces itself into any item you have in your deck and it does it cheap. The only reason I can see not playing this card is if you don't have any items in your deck. Yes, the battle number on this card is quite low, but who cares when you get a free searching tool.
Rating: 8

Cave Hole-
At first glance, this card looks like crap. But at a second glance...it still looks like crap. I can see this card being useful in maybe, oh, 2 situations. I dunno why the battle number is so low, it's not like this is a powerful card to begin with, but I guess all cards can't be good. The only way I can see a professional playing this card is if he (or she) finds some crazy combo with it. All it does is nullify a recently played card for one turn. Yipee, break out the party hats. Maybe I shouldn't rag on this card so much, but as of now, consider it the cream of the crap.

Cave-
This card is kinda lame, but kinda not. If you play with lanterns, and some of you do, then it wouldn't kill you to play with this. It's got a nice battle number (6) and it's effect is quite nifty once it's pulled off. Of course, you may notice that your opponents can gain Triforce Points too, if they have a lantern, of course. I usually like cards that can help your opponent because that usually means the cards effect is pretty powerful. This card, however, really doesn't have a huge effect, although it doesn't work nicely with trapping cards. If you think you can pull off a good combo with it (and I can think of a few), use it. If not, leave it out.
Rating: 5

Through the Sewers-
Besides having cool art, this card fits into a narrow niche of decks. Mainly, sewer decks! Whoda thunk it. Anyway, this card's effect is very powerful, especially when you have 2 or more of them in hand. Pumping up your character by 3 or 6 is a big deal. Unfortunately, you can only use this card in few places, so it's effectiveness is lower drastically. Don't be surprised if you see decks based on this pop up in tournaments.
Rating: 6

Maiden Seal-
When I first started reading this card, I thought "Really awesome version of Through the Sewers", but by the time I got to the end of the card, I realize this card stinks like a dead animal. As stated in Maiden Crystal's review, maiden's are not that abundant right now. So this card is almost worthless, unless some one of the upcoming sets features nothing but maidens. And the chances of that happening are zero to half of zero. I'll give this card an extra point, just because it has a high battle number.

WANTED!-
This card is a nifty little tool for knight decks. It can finish off a wounded Link or it could ambush Link and start the process of killing him. A great utility for knight decks but not very flexible and it's power depends on the power of your knights.
Rating: 5

Hindsight-
This can be a life saver. It has a good battle number, and it allows you to save that much needed card from going into the Discard Pile for eternity. 2 cards for 1 card is kinda steep, but if you just discarded a Master Sword or part of a combo you needed, this it is a decent price. I would expect to see this appear in a lot of professional decks that rely on combos.
Rating: 7

Seek the Future-
This is a pretty basic card. Look at the top 2 cards of your deck and then put them back. It's battle number is quite low, and it's effect isn't powerful, but if you really can't think of anything else to put in your deck, you could do a lot worse than this.
Rating: 4

Dark World Shape-
This is the kinda card you use when attacked something that has 4 Items on it. I've seen people do insane things with Items, and this card completely nullifies all of them for 2 turns. If Items become as essential as I think they will, this card could become very, very popular. It basically strips that person's character of all there extra strength, and with decks that focus on that, this card will absolutely kill them.
Rating: 7

Large Boulder-
This card can be nasty, but I don't think it will be. I've seen people use this and then have their opponent's character beef up with an item or something, and pound the crap out of them. So this card can really backfire on you, if you're not careful. Coupled with some discard capabilities, this could be a winner.
