Fashion tells many stories...it conveys love, happiness, grief, war, prosperity, and many other tales of the past...and continues to do so today.
Your research should have provided you with a thorough understanding of how fashion reflects the social, political, economic, and artistic factors of the times in which they were designed. Technological advances, allowing for mass production, changed clothing construction from custom-made to ready-to-wear. The growth of the middle class created demand for fashion at every price level. Women have had a tremendous effect on fashion as their roles in society have drastically changed. These factors, along with many others, have been and continue to be the driving forces behind the fashion industry.
