I have often been criticized by certain heresy hunters and heresy hunter wannabes for using and recommending the Dake's Annotated Reference Bible. My position on Dake and the annotated reference Bible that bears his name is simply this:
I do not agree with everything Dake taught in his notes, just like I do not agree with everything taught in the notes of other similar Bibles, such as Ryrie, Scofield, Criswell, Harper, Lindsell, Companion Bible, Baptist Study Bible, etc., but I find the thousands of notes and cross references in Dake's to be illuminating and certainly thought provoking.
Certain heresy hunters have also made fraudulent claims that Dake claimed his notes were inspired of God. The truth of the matter is that Dake never made any such claim. What he did claim however, is the supernatural gift of being able to recite scripture without first committing it to memory and he has demonstrated this gift from God on numerous occasions in his ministry. Those self-proclaimed heresy hunters who have claimed that Dake claimed divine inspiration for his notes have been repeatedly challenged to produce the exact quote from Dake and the reference where the quote can be found, and they have failed to do so because no such quote exists, and they are thus guilty of lying, slander, and misrepresenting what Dake actually said, believed, and taught, and in so doing, they reveal their dishonesty and lack of integrity as well as lack of love for truth. One such web site that promotes these falsehoods and dishonesty is found at: All Things Pentecostal and is operated by a man who renounced Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior about three years ago on a Christian discussion board then known as Let's Discuss The Bible. It was learned that he comes from a family of Pentecostals and is commonly known on the internet as "Bo" and often posted under the pseudonym of "Apostolic Truth". After having a major illness requiring surgery, he turned from God out of anger at God for not healing him miraculously as he wanted. "Bo" used to go to the Dake Bible Community discussion board and attempt to stir up trouble with his anti-Dake/anti-Pentecostal rhetoric and was refuted each and every time, and finally had to be banned from the discussion board for his use of profanity, and belligerent attitude, as well as outright lies regarding the late Rev. Finis Jennings Dake, and Pentecostals as a whole.
