Welcome to my Family History page. In our family tree, like most Australians, we have our roots in many countries. These include England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales.

After five years' hunting I have decided that I am not a very good ferret. I have far too many dead ends for my liking, so I have made up these pages in order to find anyone else who (hopefully!) is looking for the same families as I am. Agnes McLeod b. 1809, Co. Down, Ireland. Father Daniel McLEOD, mother Agnes McKIMON(McKINSON). She married Nathaniel McMILLAN 1827 Co. Down, Ireland.

McMILLAN - 1800+, IRELAND

Hamilton b. 1830 Newtonards, Co. Down, Ireland. Father Nathaniel McMILLAN, mother Agnes McLEOD, b. Co. Down 1809. Hamilton m. four times. Only wife to have children was Mary BOYCE (BOYES), whom he married and brought to Aust. approx 1850-1853.

PHILPOT - 1750+, ENGLAND, Essex

Daniel chr. 1761 Dunmow Chapel-Independent, Great Dunmow, Essex, England. Married 1791 Cranham, Essex, Elizabeth SMOOTH(E)Y. He was buried in Cranham in 1831. Daniel's parents are unknown.,

Evan b. c.1829 Mynnydd Kenfig,Glamorgan, Wales. Father Edward REES, farmer, mother unknown.

SCARLETT - 1750+, ENGLAND, Essex

Mary b. 1842 in the Minories, London. Her father was Radcliffe PHILPOT b. 1807 in Cranham, Essex and her mother is unknown. Mary married Walter Stanley PHILPOT in 1862 in Bendigo, Aust. She died in 1877 in childbirth in Long Gully, Bendigo, Aust.

David b.1850, King's Plain, Sydney N.S.W. Married Letitia McMillan 1870. David's father William Henry SMITH, mother Mary CREIGHTON.

SMOOTH(E)Y - 1750+, ENGLAND,Essex.

Elizabeth b. 1783, Little Yeldham, (?)Essex, m. 1791 Daniel PHILPOTT at Cranham Essex. Her father was Joseph Radcliffe SMOOTH(E)Y and her mother is unknown. Elizabeth was buried in 1850 in Cranham, Essex.

Caroline b. c.1800, m. 1824 James CARMICHAEL in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. She died 1865 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia

James b. 1795 Birnie, Moray, Scotland. His parents were William CARMICHAEL and Janet OGILVIE. He married 1824 Caroline Campbell. He died 1870 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

DOWSETT - 1850+, ENGLAND, Essex.

Albert George b. 1873 in Chelmsford, Essex, England. His parents were William Henry DOWSETT and Sarah Jane PRYOR who was b. c.1850 Ingatestone, England. Albert married Violet May BARTLETT b. 1887, Fitzroy, Melbourne. He died 1958 at Middle Park, Melbourne Victoria, Australia.

LONG - IRELAND, Co. Cork.

Bridget was b. c.1830 in Co. Cork, Ireland. Her parents were Jeremiah LONG and Bridget FITZGERALD. She married Richard SIMS in 1855 at Bothwell, Tasmania, Australia and died 1916 in Omeo, Victoria, Australia

McHENRY - 1800+, IRELAND, Dublin.

Thomas b. in (I think) Dublin c. 1820, parents William McHENRY and Mary KENNEDY. He married Dorothy or Eliza MOORE in 1860 in Beechworth, Victoria, Australia and died in 1882 at Beechworth, Victoria, Australia.

NOLAN - 1800+, IRELAND, Co. Kerry.

David b. 1841 in Co. Kerry. His parents were David NOLAN and Catherine HOULAGHAN (other spellings too). He married Alice SIMS at Omeo Victoria, Aust. in 1872 and died in Sale, Victoria, Aust. in 1912.

RATH - 1750+, IRELAND, Co. Louth.

Patrick was chris. 1796 in Clogherhead, Co. Louth, Ireland. His parents were Thomas RATH and Anne LYNCH. In 1827 Patrick m. Margaret TUMALTY (other spellings too) in Belfast, Ireland. He died in Three Mile Creek near Beechworth, Victoria, Australia.

SIMS - 1800+, ENGLAND, Staffordshire.

Richard Edmond was b. 1828 in Staffordshire, England. He m. Bridget LONG in 1855 at Bothwell, Tasmania, Australia and died in 1901 at Tongio near Omeo, Victoria, Australia.
