At Gateway Church, Christ is recognized as the head of the Church. He is supreme and His life is the pattern for all ministry and conduct of the church (Ephesians 5:23 ; Col 1:18
Gateway Church
It is exciting to be a part of the Lord’s Church. Jesus spoke of building His Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Lord’s Church. Gateway is a Church family who meet regularly in our scheduled services for the purpose of worshipping God. God’s Word is preached and taught. The word of God is the foundation for the Church. God’s presence is in our services and we know His Word says that “In His Presence is fullness of joy and at His right hand there are pleasure forevermore.” There is no greater joy in this life than the joy of serving God and being a part of the Church He is building………………….

CHRIST IS THE HEAD
SING AND WORSHIP
At Gateway we normally open the services with singing hymns and/or choruses followed with prayer and praise to worship God. It is common for individuals to pray aloud. We express our faith and thanks to God audibly and raise our hands. We always take time to have corporate (or congregational) prayer for the needs of the people.
We may even anoint the sick with oil (James 5:14-16).
We usually have some type of special music; solo, ensemble, duet, or instrumental during the service. We may clap our hands or raise them during the song service as an expression of praise to God and for what He has done for us.
At times individuals may testify what God has done for them such as healings, helping them through troubled times or even protecting them from hard.
OUR DOCTRINES
We believe the Church has three obvious purposes: (1) to introduce the lost to Christ; (2) to provide for an environment for fellowship with others who hold similar values and love for God; and (3) to effectively train and nurture believers.
We feel if we as Christians are to maintain our walk with God, we must submit ourselves to His Word and other Christians are firmly rooted in the faith. These goals can be accomplished through a warm and caring body of believers the local church (Acts 20:28; Ph. 2:15; I Thes. 5:11).
The Gateway Church has adopted 16 beliefs for the Fellowship. Four
of these Christ who provided the supreme sacrifice for sin (Jn.3:3, 16-17; Ro.
10:13;+ Eph 2:8-9; (2) divine healing for the sick as provided in Christ’s
death (James 5:14-16); (3) the second coming of Christ as He returns
for those who have accepted Him (I Thes 4:16-17; I Cor. 15:51-52); and (4)
the baptism in the Holy Spirit for empowering believers (Acts 1-8; 2:4, 17-18, 38-39) Our distinctive doctrine is our belief in the Baptism of the Holy
Spirit who gives believers several benefits as indicated in the New Testament. These include; power to witness and serve others; a dedication to the work of God; a more intense love for Christ, His Word, and the lost; and the bestow-
ment of certain spiritual gifts (Acts 1:4,8; 1:15-17). We believe that when the Holy Spirit initially fills the believer, that person will speak in an unknown language as did the 120 believers in the Upper Room on the Day of Pentecost. While this belief is distinct it is not more important than other doctrines
(Acts 2-4).
While Gateway is noted for its Pentecostal distinctive, the primary message of the church is salvation. a belief that people can find forgiveness
for sins through the sacrifice of Jesus who willingly gave His life for us.
We believe this is the central message of Christianity and the key issue for
man today (Ti. 2-11;Ro. 10:9-10;Jn 3:3-5).
OUR POSTURE AND STANDARD
While we are less formal in our worship to God than many Protestant groups, is very similar in faith, with the exception of our Pentecostal doctrine. We are Trinitarian in that we believe God exits in three persons – the Father,
Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit. We believe all three are alive and work today.
We also believe this God of three persons is the one and only true God. We believe all people are faced with a sin problem because of the first man’s
(Adam) willful disobedience to God. As a result of Adam’s fall, all people
are born in a sinful condition. While children are covered by grace until
they reach an age of accountability.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
We have Sunday school classes for all age groups which provide believers with a systematic classroom study of the Bible and offers opportunities for sharing needs and fellowship with other Christians. This is a very important time for new believers (II Tim. 2:15).
CHILDREN'S CHURCH
Gateway Church provides Children’s Church for ages 3yrs to 5yrs in
the Kindergarten ages level and ages 6 and up for Primary age. The children
will learn a well balanced program of learning about the Bible which will help them in their daily lives both at home and school.
