mountain dew was created in the 1940's by barney and ally Hartman. mountain dew was first a lemon lime flavor and was mostly used in wisky to give it a lemon lime flavor. moutain dew originated in tennessee and was named mountain dew after tennessee moutain moonshine. (illeagally made alcohol) mountain dew's first slogan was "it'll tickle your inards". the mountain dew flavor changed to what it tastes like now in 1954, that has been credited to bill bridgforth. mountain dew was bought by pepsi in 1964, and mountain dew finnaly went national. the "do the dew" slogan appeared in 1993 with the Dew Dudes in the ad "been there, done that"
