Sierra is changing quickly. She is growing and looking more like a teenager every day. I don't like to think about the fact that her aging means I'm aging too!
This year we bought Sierra Silver. We looked for months and just happened to find him on her birthday. He is a registered quarter horse. She is taking lessons and does barrels, flags, and poles at the local showdeo. She will also compete in the county fair in a few weeks. This has been a big lesson in responsibility and perseverence for her (and us).
Sierra starts a new school this fall. She was going to Vinita where I taught, but now I'm not going to teach there next year. So Sierra will be starting Adair Middle School in August.. that is where I went to school. Of course she is apprehensive about making new friends, but she understands the benefits of going to school in the district where she lives. She is excited about the increased opportunity for sleep-overs and just stopping by a friend's house to play. She never really had the chance to do all that at Vinita b/c we lived so far away.
Sierra continues to be a sensitive, artistic, wonderful child. Having a brother and sister has toughened her up a bit. She is just an all-around great kid and I'm happy I get to spend my days with her!
Sierra into horses!
Sierra has really been into horses this year. She has always wanted a horse, but her enthusiasm has grown lately. She has been thining about the future and talks about working with animals. We bought her this playstation game at Christmas and told her than once we found the right horse for her we would buy it.
My Cowgirl
Here is Sierra and Silver at their first showdeo going around the barrels. She was walking him on this night... now we trot and during the her twice weekly lessons she's even got him to lope. She is doing so great with him! Sometimes she doesn't want to go work with him because it is so hot, but when it gets a bit cooler outside I'm sure she won't be able to wait to saddle him up!
Sierra as a baby!
I like keeping this picture on here because it helps me realize just how much Sierra has grown. Time is bittersweet, you want all the wonderful moments to last forever but you also know that if they did then you would miss out on so many more wonderful moments that are yet to come. I'd like to have all those seconds with Baby Sierra back, but if time had stopped back then I wouldn't have these wonderful times with the Cheyton and Brylee. Sierra is growing into a beautiful girl. I look forward to the future with her.
