Recipes, for the Craft
Dragons Blood Prosperity Ink
Materials Needed:
1. 1 TBLS. Dragon's Blood resin ( you will have to grind this into a powder)
2. colorless alcohol ( cheap white wine or vodka - a small bottle)
3. tightly sealable jar
4. one cinnamon stick (crushed)
5. 1/8 tsp. Patchouly
6. 1/8 tsp. ground or instant coffee.
STEP 1:
Grind and pour the Dragons Blood and spices into the jar.
STEP 2:
Pour in just enough cheap white wine or vodka to cover the resin/spices mixture plus 10% more. ( water, rubbing alcohol, or glycerin will not make a good ink...)
STEP 3:
Seal the jar. Place out of the way - but not in the dark. Wait 3-4 days.
NOTE: The resin will leach it's color into the
alcohol. The spices will leach their scent and properties into the ink at the same time.
STEP 4:
When you think it is dark enough, dip a sterile toothpick into the liquid, and test on the type of paper you intend to use it with.
Let dry: is it indeed dark enough, or does it need more steeping?
STEP 5:
Continue steeping and testing until dark enough...
When it is done, strain to remove the resin and spices. Return the liquid to the bottle, use for writing.
Note:
Be advised that this is not a sun-fast ink, so it should not be used for things that will spend a great deal of time in the direct sunlight.
