 Special Ceremonies To Include Children

Although the day belongs to the bride and groom,
it may be their desire to perform a brief ceremony that includes under aged children.
If the bride or groom will be assuming a primary care giving role,
it may be appropriate to observe the child as a part of this union.

 Family Unity Candle

The unity candle symbolizes two lives coming together as one.  The initial ceremony does not change to include the family unity.  Once the initial ceremony is complete, the children join the bride and groom and together the family lights a different candle together signifying a family coming together as one.

Sample Framed Poem

Not flesh of my flesh
Nor bone of my bone
But never the less still my own.

Never forget for a single moment,
You weren't born under my heart,
But in it.

 Vow to an older child

_______, There is a pretty good chance we will not always see eye to eye.
But, today I accept you as my own,
The son / daughter of the man/woman I love
I will do my best to be fair, honest and patient with you always.
And that is all I will ask from you in return.
We have no way of knowing what the future holds,
But you can be sure that whatever it brings, you can depend on me.
I am proud to call you my son/daughter
And I love you
