|
This is Yuriko Katsumata. She comes from Shizuoka. She
is a fourth year doctoral student in the faculty of
Medicine. She will graduate next March after completing her
thesis. Playing piano is what she likes to do recently.
Until grade four-year in elementary school, she learned
piano. After a long break, she began playing that instrument
again. She seems very calm. She said it is impossible for
her to finish her thesis and to graduate from the school,
but I believe she can do that!

 Mayu Maekawa
|
This
girl is Mayu Maekawa. She is in her 2nd year in the
department of engineering. She is from Wakayama. Her hobbies
are reading, shopping and traveling. With regard to travel,
she had a wonderful experience this summer. She visited
Thailand for nine days as a member of a tour to protect the
environment. She really enjoyed it. Actually, she is
“ghost”, but she is willing to take this class without
getting credit and hopes to make progress with her English
skills. |
Masayo Fukuhara
|
This is
Masayo Fukuhara from Fukui. She is charming and looks so
kind. She is a second year student of the faculty of Law.

Ryotaro Shiba. She also likes looking at trees at Hokkaido

as the best place in Sapporo. |

impression for her is that she is so intelligent. She is an
undergraduate student in the department of Architecture of
the faculty of Engineering. As she is in her fourth year,
she has to complete her thesis by this December. The theme
is ‘moisture content of concretes’. She went to some

Saori Imafuku
|
This is Saori Imafuku from Okinawa. She is the third
year of the faculty of medicine now. Hokkaido is a three
hour flight from Okinawa. The reason why she chose the
Hokkaido University is that she had very exciting experience
here while in high school. I do not know exactly what it was
like. Sometime I will ask her and let you know about it.
I promise. This winter will be the third one she has been
here.
The first impression that I got is she looked so cute and
bright. Black eyes and shining hair reveals that she is
typical of Okinawan beauty.
She has a brother nine years younger than she. When she has
some free time she like to play Chopin and read novels. Her
hobbies show that she tends to ba a little bit introverted.

Chung Sung Woo
(Tom)
|
This is a brilliant guy whose name is Chung Sung Woo.
As you can guess from his name, he is from Korea. But when I
first met him, I didn’t notice that he is not Japanese. He
speaks Japanese very fluently. He learned it in high school
as a third language. According to him, learning Japanese is
popular among young people in Korea.
Now, he
is in the master course in the department of Economics. As
there are many convenient systems in Japan, he thinks it is
easier to live here compared to Korea, for example, the
educational system. In Japan, overseas students can get
subsidies for education from the government. On the other
hand, there is no such a system in Korea. He is planning to
stay another year in Japan. I hope he will enjoy the rest of
his stay.

older and one younger. His hobby is rugby. He has been
playing rugby since he was 6 years old. That’s a very long
time! His position is Stand Off. He still plays rugby even

He seems like a massive man. I'm sure that he will

course in the medical department. She studies about senior
citizen’s health. When she was a bachelor student, she

She has a pet in her house. It's a salamander. His name is

at playing tennis and she can play violin! She belongs to
the orchestra and she has been playing violin for two and
half years. She says “I’m not good at playing violin”,
but I don’t believe her. She must be a great violinist!
Her hobby is listening to music and her favorite music genre

California in America when she was in her first year of
