Ski Resorts

I like skiing very much. I have been to many ski slopes, so I introduce good ski resorts to you.

Everyone ought to be excited whether good or not. Let’s enjoy skiing this winter!

Sapporo Moiwa ski slopes

 Place: Minami-ku Moiwasita 1991

 Tel: 011-584-1234

Access: 15 minutes from Makomanai subway station by bus

The Moiwa Ski slopes are situated on Mt. Moiwa, near Makomanai. The best point of this place is the variety of ski runs. There are so many to choose from. Some are easy to ski, and others are difficult, so both beginners and good skiers can have fun. Moreover, this shi field is near to the center of Sapporo, so it’s easy to get there. Mt Moiwa usually opens on Dec. 7, but this year it will be delayed due to a lack of snow.

Teine Olympia ski resort

 Place: Teine-ku Teinehonmati 593

 Tel: 011-681-3191

Access: 20 minutes from Teine station by bus

Olympia is on the side of Mt. Teine, northwest of Sapporo. There are plenty of ski slopes that I think are suitable for beginners. These ski runs are gradual and not so long, so it is easy for beginners to practice skiing there. What’s more, the view from the top is very beautiful. You can see the whole of Sapporo city if it’s a fine day.

Teine Highland ski resort

Place: Teine-ku Teinekaneyama 172

Tel:0120-611-555 (Gelande dial)

Access: 30 minutes from Teine station by bus

Highland is another ski run on Mt. Teine. It is at the top of the mountain. It was the giant slalom course for the 1972 Sapporo Olympic Games. These ski slopes are steep and very long, so it’s difficult for beginners to ski them. People who are good at skiing should enjoy it. The shuttle bus connects Teine Highland and Olympia, so it’s easy to move between them.

Makomanai ski slopes

Place: Minami-ku Tokiwa 383-6

Tel: 011-592-1111

Access: 15 minutes from Makomanai subway station by bus

Makomanai is south of Sapporo. It has a humungous half pipe for snowboarders. It is one of the biggest half pipes in Japan. Many snowboarders go there every winter. Of course the normal ski slopes are also high quality. And it has a high-speed ski lift from the foot of the mountain to the top, so you can go up the mountain more rapidly.

Sapporo Kokusai ski resort

Place: Minami-ku Zyouzankei 937

Tel:011-598-4511

Access: 40 minutes from Otaru and 60 minutes from Sapporo by car

Kokusai is in the far west of Sapporo. It’s nearer Otaru than the center of Sapporo, but it’s still within the Sapporo city limits. It is the largest ski resort in Sapporo. There are many courses, and the total length of the slopes is more than 3500 meters. What’s more, it has two ski gondolas from the foot to the top.

These ski resorts are not open as of Dec.4, because the amount of snow is not enough to ski and snowboard right now.

But it won’t be long before the big snows come, so get your skis ready and have fun this winter!
