Barefoot |
 |
I am against being barefoot. Though they
say that to enter a restaurant, or
walk in
the streets barefoot is not a contravention
of the law, in my opinion, it is against
good manners. Also going barefoot has
a high
potential for injury and sting. At
the worst,
that may cause infection. Also, to
the eye,
their feet are dirty. That is why,
I am for
wearing shoes.

Antarctica |
 |
| For a short time, I want to live in Antarctica,
and go around all kinds of sights,
and experience
the nature. But, I don’t want
to live there
for a long time. First of all,
the environment
of Antarctica is very severe.
The temperature
is very low throughout year.
This climate
may kill life in the worst case.
Also, it
is difficult for us to get food
because plants
can’t grow there and animals
which we usually
eat are not there. Second, there
are not
mental reliance such as friends,
family,
and so on. Of course, there may
be academic
colleagues, but he or she may
not be your
best friend, a dependable person,
or a congenial
person. Third, maybe, our living
is not comfortable.
We can’t freely walk out, go
fishing, go
driving, play soccer, or play
baseball. All
there is are snowfields and ice.
If we begin
counting the number of uncomfortable
things,
we can not stop! That is why,
I can’t think
about living in Antarctica. |

MY TRAVEL EXPERIENCE |
 |
|
I am a student at Hokkaido university. My friends and I planned to visit Monbetsu
in winter last year. We hired a car and gathered
in front of a shop called “karaoke cats”
at noon. We got our photograph taken by the
shop owner as a keepsake and left for Monbetsu.
At first, everything was downhill all the
way. But as we passed an accident and approached
a tunnel, we became aware of the frozen road
inside the tunnel. But the car which went
before us had already been washed out. We
hastily lowered our speed, and managed to
stop without crashing into that car. We had
hardly time to get over it when other cars
crashed into our car from behind. Unfortunately,
our travel was over there. None of us were
injured so I’m thankful for small mercies.

LAWSUIT OF YUNOHANA ONSEN |
 |
|
I think Arudo Debito and the other two people
will win the lawsuit because that the plaintiffs
are correct in all respects. First, considering
it from a commonsense point of view, racial
discrimination based on appearance and nationality
is apparently unconstitutional. Obviously,
that is an impermissible thing for us as
human beings. Second, as you can make out
if you consider it carefully, almost all
foreign people can understand the rule of
an onsen in a very short time. These rules
are not difficult. That is why, the plaintiffs
will win the lawsuit. But, I think deep down
the employees and managing director only
have a poor heart. They only care about tiny
stupid things such as the color of skin,
eyes and race, and forget important things.
Also, though Otaru city knew this problem
at an early stage, their deals were bad.

Ways older people can volunteer |
 |
|
Developing countries have various problems
and reasons why they can’t develop.
For
instance, there are economical,
social or
religious matters, as well as
a severe climate
or environment. However, humans
have certain
unfading characteristics even
when they are
getting on in years. These are
experience,
intelligence, and skills. People
who have
studied economics can help resolve
matters
of economy. In this way, if we
have technical
intelligence in one field, we
can use it
to help lead to better conditions.
Now we
live in a country where we can
study freely.
If you studied hard when you
were young,
the intelligence or skill you
gained can
become a cause for change among
people in
circumstances worse than your
own. I think
that though we become older,
the things we
gained in our life are not meaningless.
