Who is Tucker?

Tucker George Greer was born in Sapporo, Japan on January 16, 2001.
He is Tim and Kazumi's first and only son, and butter would melt in his mouth.
(It may do in his nappy, but not in his mouth.)

First Impressions
Kazumi had a long and trying labour and Tim helped in whatever way he could, mostly by rubbing her back with a dolphin shaped massaging implement she had recieved from Auntie Kirsti at Christmas.

When he finally arrived, Tucker had a mop of dark hair and a pitiful wimper. He also had his dad's long legs and his mum's sweet smile.. The photo below was taken when he was just minutes old.

Tucker's Name
We wanted a name that would work in both of Tucker's cultures. In Japanese, Tucker (Taka) means 'hawk' which is a powerful and quietly confident sort of image that we both liked. In Australia, Tucker means 'food', but that's really got nothing to do with it. The thing is that the name is familiar and pronounceable for both families, yet still unique enough to reflect Tucker's in-between existence.

His second name, George, was Tim's Grandfather's name. In Japanese the last Kanji is the same as one of the Kanji from Kazumi's Dad's name, so Tucker will always be aware of his family connections.
