Potential Camping & Hiking Trips

Lehigh River Boat/Bike/Camp Trip
This guided overnight trip is run by the Wildlands Conservancy and starts at the Allentown Canal Park.

The cost is $75/person with a discounted rate of $50/person given to groups of 30 or more.

It can be scheduled April thru October. The trip includes all equipment & meals:

Day 1:

· 8 mile canoe trip along the Lehigh River.

· Overnight campout on Freeman’s Island in the middle of the river

· Camp cooked meal

· Camp fire, tales & camaraderie

· Sleeping in tents (personal bedding not supplied)

Day 2:

Choice of:

· Continuation of canoe trip to Hugh Moore Park in Easton (return trip not included)

· Bike ride back to Allentown along the canal towpath

This hike takes you thru Old Town Philadelphia visiting all the sites relating to Benjamin Franklin.

The only cost is $1.00 for reserved tickets to tour Independence Hall. It’s a full day hike.

Scouts earn a Historic Trail patch/ribbon.

The cost of an encampment is $49.50, per person, regardless of age.

Encampment includes:

· 1 ticket for the flight simulator; additional rides are $6.50 each.

· Dinner on evening of check-in and breakfast on morning of check-out.

· Tour of boat with trained guides

· Radio Merit Badge program

Fort Mifflin is called the “Fort that saved America”.

Open May to November, Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

$15 for an overnight encampment including:

· 24 hour stay (4pm – 4pm)

· Tour with guide in period costume

· Weapons demonstration

· Outdoor camping or indoor bunks available

$30 additional for Cannon demonstration.

The Appalachian Trail runs from Maine to Georgia with some of the most scenic vistas in Pennsylvania.

A backpacking trip along the trail in central PA has been proposed for spring of 2006.

Beach Jam is held two times a year: May and October.

It includes most meals, campsites, amusement rides, bonfire and s’mores and a patch..

It costs $39.50 per person ($25 if you don’t ride the amusements).

Event T-shirts and Dolphin Watching Tours are extra at $10/each per person.
