Stock Air box modified for cold-air induction. (Note: the white tube entering the box on the lower right)

Jam195.jpg

Better shot of the white tube that enters the airbox. The airbox can suck air beside the battery and it can take in forced air from the hose too.

Cold-Air induction tube. (Note: Tube enters the airbox from a hole beside the radiator support. Other end is at the grille)

Jam193.jpg

This is where the air from the outside enters into the hose. This small hole beside the turn signal makes a perfect place for a cold-air/ram-air setup. Its hidden and out of site.

    Club Memberships:

This is my 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. I've had this car since November of 1999. This is my second car. I consider this my real car, since I don't have to share it and i've personalized it quite a bit. I've added several small mods since I got it. I'm the second owner of this car. The first owner was my dad. I was going to buy another car. I was looking around for a 93-95 Chevrolet Camaro RS/Base V6s. I looked at several of these cars in car lots and through private owners. I couldn't find one I liked. They seemed to be ragged out quite a bit. Some of them I could tell they were wrecked in the past. At the same time I was looking for a car, my dad was selling his car. My dad just bought a 2000 Grand Prix GT and he was getting rid of his 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix SE. He already had it ready to sell (sign in the window, ad ready to be placed in the newspaper the next day). After hours of thinking I decided I would go ahead and take it. This car was in way better shape than all the other cars I looked at. I also liked the fact I knew the cars history (My dad ordered it though GM in late 1992). I knew it was well maintained and taken care of all of its life. I also liked the sport sedan styling. It doesn't look like a plain jane grandpa car to me. It has its own style and class, you can't seem to find that in alot of cars nowadays.

The modding bug began in late April of 2000. Since I was born a car guy, as soon as I got the car I looked for info, sites, clubs, etc for my particular car. I did find http://www.clubgp.com/, I joined of course. Bad part about this club is that its mostly for 1997+ Grand Prixs. Older Grand Prixs don't get much credit there. There is a forum on there for 1988-1996 and 1987-older but that wasn't quite enough for me. The site mainly has mods for the 1997+ Grand Prixs. For those cars they have interior, body and engine (3.8 SFI Supercharged V6 or the 3.8 SFI N/A V6) mods availible. I decided to do a search for groups that like to mod the 3.1 MPFI V6 (the motor I got). I found nothing at all. Like ClubGP, I found forum on car related site dealing with the older car models, but nothing for the engine itself. I started searching the web for sites related to this engine. I found a few with a lot of good info. I discovered there were alot of mods for this engine. I was told by some people there was nothing, those guys were wrong. Theres cams, pistons, rocker arms, etc offered for this engine. There were people out there who went all out on this engine. There were even companies who offered bolt-ons for this engine. I was impressed with what I found.

I knew a group dedicated to this engine needed to be created. I ended up creating a group called "Performance 3.1" at Yahoo. It became a big sucess, there were others like me out there interested in this engine. Later on down the road it was moved to GmForums.com and renamed "60 Degree V6 Pushrod Performance". Not only did this new club deal with the 3.1 MPFI V6s, it was for ALL the over looked 60 Degree V6 Pushrods FWD and RWD (2.8s, 3.1s, 3.1 Turbos, 3100s, 3400s). The club is currently ran by Ben Phelps (he's the one that got us over to GM Forums) and myself. Later, the club was renamed a third time, which is now "The 60 Degree V6 Club". This club includes all the Pushrods and now the DOHC 3.4 MPFI/SFI engines (which is all the engines in the 60 Degree family). If you have a 60 Degree V6 and you are interested in joining our group, check out the group at http://www.60degreev6.com. There are no membership fees, everything is free! The webmaster of this site is Ryan Meray, he's done a great job with the site so far!

Just by owning this car, i've had a lot of fun. Not only modding it but meeting people modding this engine and seeking parts for this engine and making new friends. It's been a blast for me. I think it was a great idea getting this car.

On August 30th, 2002, this car was sold. I tried keeping two cars, but with my budget, I found it almost impossible to do. I miss the car, I hope the next owners take care of it like I did. I doubt the car will be maintained like I had it (i'm very picky). I sold the car well over KBB value due to the condition. It was the cleanest 1993 most people have ever seen. It only took 3 weeks to sell her (pretty good considering the price I was asking and the lack of ads). I removed alot of the goodies on the car also. I returned it to mostly stock, even added a brand new catalytic converter. I'll never forget the good times I had in that car.
