After the formation, British and Independent postal administration cancels continued in use during the UAE postal administration. Only British Types 1, 3, and probably 2 are used and Independent Types 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, and 20 are known used during the UAE postal administration.
A new four types of cancels were
introduced during the year 1973. The first type “Type
ad1” inscribed “ABU DHABI”
in Arabic and “ABU DHABI UAE”
in English. The second cancel “Type ad2”
inscribed “ABU DHABI” in Arabic and
“ABU DHABI
UAE WEST B.O.” in English. Another type was used
in Al Ain post office “Type ad3” inscribed
“AL AIN” in Arabic and “AL-AIN
ABU DHABI UAE” in English. The forth type was used in
Das Island post office “Type ad4” inscribed
“ABU DHABI” in Arabic and “ISLE
DAS ABU DHABI UAE” in English.
