Eugene Carnes

I am sorry to be the bearer of some sad news, but my brother, Eugene, passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 unexpectedly. I went back to Alabama last week to help bury him. I met a lot of his friends he made there with the horse-back riding the he and his wife were into. We had a interesting time remembering him and the things he did. Even if he was 5 years younger than me, we never know when god will call us to his side. We buried Eugene under a large oak tree on the family farm, owned by the in-laws. He loved the area, and that is where he kept his and his wife's horses. If you would be so kind as to pass this information along to the rest of the Sasebo family I would be most grateful." Gary Carnes

Please pass along our heartfelt condolences to Gary and his family and let him know how devastated we are to lose one of our own. Gene was an enthusiastic supporter of our group and a welcome voice on the board (Miracho812). He will certainly be missed. Ironically, the thing that impressed me most about Gene, was his love and concern for his brother, Gary. On several occasions, Gene entreated us to help lift Gary's spirits by sending encouraging notes and inviting him to get involved with the Sasebonians group. His devotion is a good example for us all. I want to remind the group that Gene has a photo album on the site. I hope you'll take a moment to smile at memories of Gene with the horses he loved so much...and remember that life is so short...let's do better at keeping in the touch with all of our Sasebonians.
