Emil W. Marse

Mr. Marse was the principal of E.J. King High School in the late 50's and early 70's. He was born in Croweburg, Kansas on February 22, 1915 and he died in Winter Haven, Florida on September 16, 1982. He is survived by his wife, Phine of Auburndale, Florida.

Mr. Marse was principal of EJ King School in Sasebo, Japan as far back as 1959.

I recall Mr. Marse being quite the bowler. I believe he had some 300 games under his belt. What really sticks in my mind about Mr. Marse was the pirhana in his fish tank (in his office). That was spooky to me. Does anybody else remember fish? Did anybody lose any fingers, hands, or other parts in his office?

Bennett Johnson

I remember those fish, as a matter of fact I was going to ask if anyone else remembered them!

Frank Childers

I remember his fish. But most of all I remember the front of his desk. It was cherry wood and it was huge. I think you are right about Mr. Marse being a bowler. I believe his wife and my mother were both on the bowling league in Sasebo. Bowling was pretty hot in the early 70's.
