OUR MISSION

The women of Papua New Guinea are the same as other women in the world. They have families, careers, hopes and dreams. Yet Papua New Guinea women must live under the most difficult conditions. They must first attempt to overcome the low social standing in their society. Some women are viewed more as property then human beings. Medical facilities are nearly nonexistent, especially in the rural areas. Many young mothers die from lack of medicine or poor emergency treatment. The majority live in a world with no power or running water. Even in the dawn of the 21st century they must still live off the mercy of the jungle much the same as their ancestors did through the millennia. The tropics is an incredibly difficult place to survive. Malaria bearing mosquitoes, poisonous snakes, jungle diseases and the isolation make life amazingly challenging.

Papua New Guinea women are just like other women in the world but they have a strength born of adversity that one can not help but admire. My intention is to raise awareness of the struggle that the women of Papua New Guinea face in their day to day lives. To give a home on the Net for the organizations supporting those women and to ask for help from anyone in the world who would desire to do so. We will need money, medicine, clothing, books, computers, and anything else people would like to send to the women of PNG. We do not ask for you to send anything to us but to send it directly to the organization of your choice. That is the purpose of the PNG Women's Web.
