Mighty Hunter
There sits my father,resting in the sun
I prepare for the pounce,this is going to be fun
With footsteps so silent,it's a deafening hush
I stalk and then leap, in a lightening fast rush
I had a great urge and something to prove
How was I to know pop was going to move?
So here i go sailing, right through the trees
Digging up dirt and bruising my knees
It was a great thought before it begun
Then pop softly growled " I'm proud of you son"
My chest swells with pride yes,I'm the king's son
Then mom pounced on dad Wow!! that's how it's done
Paws thrashing, dust rising,claws reaching for ground
Pop suddenly realized there was none to be found
I opened my mouth to let out a big growl
Then looked at my mom....and gave a fierce
.....meow
Untamed Spirit
The growl is now silent that once shook the land
As my kingdom crumbles all for the sake of man
Forced from our homes,the pride moves along
The old ones lay dying...can't they see this is wrong?
Born of this land to run wild and free
Now placed in the zoo for all to come see
I walk with head down,shoulders slumped with sorrow
Don't they see for my kind, there is no tomorrow
With no voice to speak and state
my case
I am doomed to extinction by the human race
Yet the spirit reigns
proud, this they can't break
It's all I have left that humans can't
take
As I look to the heavens as all creatures do
I wonder how you'd feel
if i did this to you?
The Trophy
We're glad you came to visit.Just make yourself at home
We would like to show you around,if you have time to roam
Be careful of the hunters and keep your head down low
Or you might become a trophy.The kind he
likes to show
I simply do not understand, i guess I never will
How one creature can destroy another just for the thrill
Yet I can't help thinking,with a cattish grin
How one of them would look hanging
