Kat*s sheet curtains:(check out my illustration @ the bottom)

1- buy a twin sized flat sheet in a color you like (of course, if you were doing my bold color room, it would be white).

2-cut the curtain in half lengthwise. if you want to go the harder but longer-lasting route, fold the entire frayed edge back about 2 inches and sew it. repeat for the other curtain.

3- if your window is not as long as the sheet is, you can choose to let it hang longer than the window (it looks good that way) or cut it about a foot longer than the window is. make sure that the curtain wont be above a heater or candle that can catch on fire!!

4-buy two yards of ribbon that either matches the color of the sheet or matches a color in your room. the width of the ribbon doesnt matter; choose what you like.

5a- Get one of your half-sheets and a pair of scissors. For normally spaced curtains, cut 4 slits, one inch from the top. The slits should be as wide as the ribbon you've bought, and make sure that your slits are spaced out evenly across the curtain! repeat for your other half-curtain.

5b-For a dramatic effect with big folds at the top of your curtains, you can cut 3 slits at the top of your half-sheet. The slits should be one inch from the very top of the half-sheet and as wide as the ribbon you've bought. Make sure that they are evenly space across the curtain!

6- cut the ribbon to the length of ties you desire (remember that they will be folded in half, so cut them twice as long as you want the curtains to hang). add 2 inches to the length you want so you'll be able to tie them at the top. (more if you want to tie them in bows)

7-slide the ribbons through the slits and tie them. you can either tie them in a knot or a double-knotted bow. you could even sew the edges together so you dont see a knot. repeat for the other half-curtain.

*now put the curtains on your curtain rod. ta da! easy, cheap curtains ya made yourself!

hey guys i know my illustrations are crummy, but they do the job!!
