THE GATES OF HELL

  • Directed by: Lucio Fulci
  • Written by: Dardano Saccehetti & Lucio Fulci This movie is not like Zombie. Wich is probably why I like it. Lucio Filci doesn't go the same route that Gerorge Romero goes. Lucio makes this films meaning have to do with the End of the World. When a priest hungs himself in a graveyard, he opens up the seven doorways to hell (seven gates). A reporter (Christopher George) has three days to close these portal before All Saint Day or "the moon will turn red and the dead shall rise and walk the earth". With help from Katherine Maccoll the two strangers travel to the town of Dunwich. Where they find that terror has struck the town and turned some people into zombies.Watch out for the famous drill scene. Only strong stomachs need apply. This movie to me isn't so much as a Zombie movie. Yet although there are little good zombie movies in the genre this is one of the better ones. When I bought the movie I ran home expecting another Zombie. But that wasn't the case. This film was long going and got me a little tierd at first. Then the zombies got my attention and go did the drill scene. A lot of the gore used in this film really kicks ass. It got my full attention. And at the end this movie is better than many others. If you need to rent a movie that is not totally based on zombie's then this flick is it. It has a story and is really good and scary. (Nasty too.)
