Oklahoma Hawk Lover

I would like to get together with folks who have an interest in camping, birding, ethnobotany, entomophagy, herbs, wild crafting, mushroom hunting, nut and berry picking or eating the weeds in the back yard. Its a cheap hobby.

Some of the things that I consider important in my life are Spiritual, Outdoors, and Computers. The longer I live the deeper my longing to understand the "Great Mystery" which is called God by some, and the "Great Spirit that moves in all things" by others. I cannot help but feel the presence of a benevolent spirit that has my best interest at heart. I only wish this same spirit would push a bit more money in my direction, but I digress.

Currently I am working towards Comptia Security+ certification and looking to upgrade my computer skills in many ways. I work in an IT department supporting computers for a manufacturing concern. I hold an A+ and Network+ certificate. The A+ certification is a hardware certificate which means I can work on the innards of a computer without hurting myself. The Network+ covers the basics of networking. I am experimenting with programming and web page design in between.

I have been involved with the Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts since 1995. I teach the Computer Merit badge. Download 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D. I have enjoyed a career as a commercial fisherman and taught navigation at summer camps. Working on the ocean gives one a healthy respect for the weather and nature in general. I have not been hunting since I went with my father and uncles as a child but I enjoy walking in the woods, soaking up the peace it brings. I aspire to attend a nature class at Tom Brown Jr.'s school in New Jersey. I have read 13 of his books starting with the Tracker and all of them have some inspiration for me. I attended the Bois D'Arc Primitive Skills Gathering in Greenfield, MO. I got my first bow drill fire, created a coal with a hand drill and used a magnifing glass to create fire. I also intentionally ate a fried grasshopper. It tasted ok but I still prefer steak.

Life would not be complete for me if I had no one to share my life with. A wife and two sons keep me active and challenged.

Pray for peace.
