Misty Goes To America Five Salon Rocket, Biscayne Boulevard, Miami... Brock, Misty, Scott and Ash looked around, and saw a giant bunch of trainers, just waiting to go inside. The gym was only three blocks down the street, so Ash decided to run off to get the Soul Badge from the local leader. Misty followed Ash for a few steps, but then, decided to stay in line for the salon. They waited for an hour, and finally, they got inside, only to see yet an another line of trainers with their Pokemon, waiting to be served. Brock looked at the staff, who looked a lot like Butch, Cassidy, Megan and Shawn. An another hour passed, and finally, Misty, Brock and Scott arrived at the counter. Brock pulled out Graveler, Misty her Seadra, and Scott his Wartortle. They placed their orders, and left their Pokemon with the staff, who placed a tag on them, and sent them into the next room on a conveyer belt. The group exited the salon, and went around exploring Miami a bit more. They went over to the local Gym, where Ash was in the middle of a match with Leanne. Misty, Brock and Scott went up to the stands, and saw Leanne's Weezing thoroughly trouncing all of Ash's Pokemon. Ash pulls out his Charizard, and suddenly, the whole room exploded, and was covered in a cloud of stinking, thick, black smoke. Leanne pulled out a Muk, and Ash used Charizard to knock it out with Ember. A few minutes passed, and all of Leanne's Pokemon were knocked out. The bell rang, and Misty, Brock and Scott rush down the stairs to meet up with Ash in the arena, where Leanne was waiting with the Soul Badge. Ash got the badge from Leanne, and Misty gave him a kiss. He blushed, and then, noticed Scott giving Misty a kiss. "You!" he screamed. "You stole my girlfriend!" "I did not! We were just playing cards, when we kissed. So what?" Scott replied. "You kissed her!" "So?" "I challenge you to a Pokemon duel for Misty, right here, right now!" Misty was shocked. This was the first time any guy ever fought a Pokemon Battle for her. Brock pulled her aside, and Leanne nodded to Scott. "All right. I was waiting for Vancouver to do this, but you want it, so you'll get it!" Scott replied. "6-on-6 battle, winner gets to keep Misty." Ash shouted. "Fine with me. Let's rumble." Scott took Leanne's area, and Ash remained in the challenger area. The two stared down each other for a while, when suddenly, Pikachu jumped off of Ash's backpack, ran over to Scott, and held on to his leg. "Pikachu! Get back here!" Ash ordered. "Guess Pikachu wasn't about to battle a friend, Ash. So, should we change it to 5-on-5?" Scott asked. "All right then, fine. Let's see...Ah, here it is. Ivysaur, I choose you!" "Too easy! Let's go, Starmie!" The two Poke Balls landed in the ring, and both popped open at the same time, revealing Ivysaur and Starmie. "OK, Starmie, Hydro Pump!" Scott shouted. "Hah! You think that's gonna do anything? Ivysaur, use your Vine Whip!" Starmie dodges the vines, and launches a powerful Hydro Pump attack at Ivysaur, which sends it flying out of the ring. Scott's Pokemon may have the power, but I still have better Pokemon than him, Ash thought. "Ivysaur, return!" Ash pulled out an another Poke Ball, and tossed it into the ring. "Pidgeot, I choose you!" "Starmie, hit it with a Tackle attack!" "Pidgeot, Whirlwind attack!" Starmie jumps up into the air, and tries to knock down Pidgeot. Pidgeot dodges it all, and sends off the Whirlwind, which sends Starmie flying into the wall. "Starmie, return!" Scott pulls out an another Super-Ultra Ball, and tosses it into the ring. "Let's go, Charizard!" "Pidgeot, hit it with an another Whirlwind!" "Good try, "Champ". Charizard, Fire Spin!" Charizard' Fire Spin enveloped Pidgeot, and combined with the power of its own Whirlwind (which made the fire more powerful), Pidgeot fell back down to the arena. "Pidgeot, return!" Later... After a while, the high-level battle was coming down to the wire. Both trainers had one last Pokemon left, and just before they pulled them out and toss them into the ring, they stared down each other one more time. "Butterfree, I choose you!" "Let's go, Dragonair!" The two trainers tossed their last Poke Ball into the ring, and when they landed, the final battle was all set to begin. Both Pokemon were at equal skill level, and both trainers were skilled. It was now a match of power. "Butterfree, Poison Powder!" "Dragonair, Thunder Wave!" The Thunder Wave disintegrates the Poison Powder, but Butterfree manages to escape the wave unharmed. It automatically launches Sleep Powder, but an another Thunder Wave from Dragonair quickly disperses that. "This ends here, now! Butterfree, Poison Powder!" "You think that's gonna work? Dragonair, Dragon Rage!" Misty, Brock, Leanne and Ash gasped. Dragon Rage was any Dragon Pokemon's greatest attack, and it's power level depends on how angry it is, and by the looks of things, Dragonair is royally P.O.'ed. The attack runs its course, and when the dust settled, Butterfree was down, and the bell was rung. Misty rushed out onto the arena, and rushed over to the injured Butterfree. Scott pulled out a bottle of potion, and went over with her. Ash shoved Scott away, but Misty insisted on Scott helping. Scott sprayed some potion on Butterfree, and Ash returned it to his Poke Ball. Scott stormed out of the arena, and slammed the door behind him. Misty rushed after Scott, and left Brock to help Ash heal his Pokemon. Meanwhile, outside, Misty was scanning the area, and saw Scott disappear around the bend with Ash's Pikachu, who seemed to have taking a liking to Scott. Then, she remembered. She had left Seadra at the salon. She hastily went to the door, and found it locked. She found a back door open, and discreetly went inside. She snuck around, and when she heard a noise, she snuck into a dark room. There, she found cages of Pokemon, all ready for transport. Misty found her Seadra in a locked cage, and struggled to open the door, which didn't budge. She looked around, and stumbled onto a master door control. After a few seconds, she found a way to open the doors. She pressed the activation button, and suddenly, a giant flood of Pokemon rushed out of the cages and out to freedom, but not unnoticed. Misty rushed out the door with the Pokemon, but the exit was blocked by Megan, Shawn, Butch and Cassidy. But they were powerless to stop the waves and waves of escaping Pokemon, as they were run over, and trampled on. Once outside, Misty continued her search for Scott. She looked around, but could not find Scott's Wartortle. She waved down a cab, and sped off to the airport, where she suspected that Scott would be. The airport... Misty looked around, but no sign of Scott. She checked all the departure screens, but none to Vancouver. She checked an airline desk, and found out the only way to go to Vancouver from Miami was through Toronto. She checked for Toronto flights, and found three. She scanned the airport three times over, but no sign of Scott. Then, just as the first flight was to leave, Misty saw Scott enter the Restricted Area. She rushed over, calling his name over and over. But he didn't hear, and entered the restricted area. Misty tried to follow him in, but was stopped in her tracks by the security guard, who asked her for a ticket, which she could not produce. She went outside, and waved down a taxi back to the hotel. Brock and Ash were in the lobby, waiting for her. But, she ignored them, and rushed to the elevator. She closed the door in Ash's face, and went up to her room. There, she unlocked it, and slammed the door. She sank into her pillow, and wept. First Ash ditched her in Denver, now Scott's dumped her here in Miami. She loved them both, and there was no denying it. There was a knock at the door, but she ignored it. More knocks continued, but after a while, it stopped. Misty sank back into her pillow, and cried some more. The knocks at the door resumed, and Misty reluctantly opened the door. Brock stood there. Misty motioned for him to come in, and gently closed the door behind him. Brock sat down, and sighed. "Brock, is there something you wanted to talk to me about?" Misty asked as she sat down on the bed. "You're still not over Scott running away, aren't you?" Brock asked. "No." "Well, we'll see him again." "Really? When?" "When we get to Vancouver, which is after Ash goes to New York and Toronto first." "No! I want to go now." "Misty..." "I want to go now!" "Misty, we can't." "Why?" "There's two reasons: One, he thinks Ash is for you. Two, he's 23, and you're 17." "How'd you know?" "Uh, I can't tell you that. It's something between us guys." "But he loves me, doesn't he?" "Yes." "But why did her run away?" "He wanted you to be happy. He really, truly thinks you are made for Ash." "But I love him! I love him and Ash! Brock, can't you bring him back to me?" Brock sighed. "No, Misty. I can't." Brock went out the door, and Misty flopped onto the bed. She burst into tears, and flopped back onto her pillow. She cried again, and held up a picture of the four taken at Disneyland back in Los Angeles. A little later, next door... Ash paced around, waiting for Brock to finish using the shower. He had though of what had happened over the past few days. If there was ever a time he needed Pikachu to give his brain a jolt, it was now. He sighed, and threw his clothes onto his bed. He went downstairs, and went to the café. He ordered a tall cup of cappuccino, and sat down at an empty table, when he suddenly saw Misty all alone. He went over to her, and sat opposite of her. He placed his arms around her, and she smiled. "Hey, Ash." She mumbled. "Misty..." Ash replied, "I...I wanted to tell you..." "Ash, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let my heart wander like this..." "It's okay, Misty." "Thanks, Ash." "No problem. That's what friends are for." "Ash..." "You're worried about Scott, aren't you?" "Yes." "Don't worry. He's probably back in Vancouver by now. Why don't you give him a call?" "Sure. You got the number?" Ash handed her a slip of paper. Misty rushed over to the phone, inserted a phone card, and dialed the number. She waited a while, and finally, someone picked it up. "Hello, Vancouver Pokemon Gym Reception Desk." The voice shouted. "Uh, I'd like to speak with the gym leader, please." Misty replied, ignoring the receptionists' rudeness. "Cory or Scott?" "Scott." "Well, he's not here. The gym's closed for the night, so he's probably at home." "Can you leave him a message?" "Sure. Who shall I ask is calling?" "Misty Katsumi Waterflower." "And your message?" "Call me at the hotel in Miami before 9:30 AM tomorrow." "Pacific or Eastern time?" "Eastern time." "I'll forward it to his home." "Thanks." "Yeah, sure. Good night." Misty hung up the phone, and ran upstairs. She went back into the room, changed into her pajamas, flopped onto the bed, and sighed. She fell asleep, and Togepi climbed into her arms. Then, he, too, fell asleep in the comfort of Misty's warmth. The next morning... Misty waited and waited, but no messages. She checked the counter many times, but they, too, had no messages for her. She checked the clock, and 10:30 ticked past. She waited until 11:00, but still no call. She followed Brock and Ash down to the lobby, and asked one more time. Still no message. Misty reluctantly followed Brock and Ash to the train station, still hanging onto the glimmer of hope that Scott would call. Meanwhile, in Vancouver... The birds and Pidgeys were chirping, the totem poles were standing strong, the morning dew drops fell onto the delicate grass, and people were already on the pathways, on their morning jog, or their rush to work. Pedestrians were dodging the rollerbladers on the pathway, as usual. Even the speed limits posted on the pathways don't seem to prevent the pedestrians from crashing into them. But, Scott wasn't the extreme type, so he took it nice and slow. People always seem to know his name, due to his job as the Vancouver gym leader. Ever since he's taken the job, life had never been the same. Life was hectic, and one day, he just couldn't take one more second of it. He took a vacation, leaving his brother Cory in charge. He toured all the gyms of Asia, and on his way home, he met Misty, as well as Ash and Brock. Misty was a nice girl, and she was the type he had a soft spot for. But then, there was Ash. He really didn't want to fight Ash for Misty, due to the fact that he had no intention that Misty would actually like him. Brock? Well...he was okay, only when he's not ogling the ladies or talking about his failures in love. Ash is a nice kid. Good natured. Very good trainer, but not half as good as him. His Pikachu was obedient, but ever since Pikachu came back to Vancouver with him, that view had somewhat changed. Scott stopped at the concession, and bought a bottle of water, and a little treat for Pikachu. This was the first day Pikachu came out with him, and the first real day of him being Pikachu's temporary trainer (until Ash comes to earn his Cascade Badge). He sat down on a bench, and Pikachu jumped onto it. Scott handed him the Poke-Treat, and it happily munched on it. "You know, Pikachu, maybe I did hurt Misty a lot when I abruptly left her back in Miami." "Pika pi pika chu." (Misty must be heartbroken.) "But, I'm not her type. She's better off loving Ash, right?" "Pi." (Yes.) "Then why did you follow me here to Vancouver?" "Pika pi pika pi. pi pika pi pika chu!" (I like you because you're a good trainer, even better than Ash!) "Oh, don't say that. Ash is a good trainer." "Pi pika pi pika. Pika pi pi pika chu?" (Yeah, you're right. So, did you answer Misty's message?) "Uh, no. Why?" "Pi pika, pika pi pika chu." (Uh oh, Misty is REALLY heartbroken now.) "Well, it's too late now. Well, let's go back to gym." "Pika pi." (OK, coming.) Scott took off, and as he made his way to the gym, he started to feel guilty. But, he fought it off, but forgot to watch the oncoming traffic. Pikachu watched, and made a grim face as he watched everything unfold in front of him. To be continued...
