The Boogie Woogie Bugler Boy
He was a famous trumpet man from out Chicago way
They made him blow a bugle for his Uncle Sam
A-toot, a-toot, a-toot-diddelyada-toot
He was our boogie woogie bugle boy of Company B
Toot-toot-toot, toot-diddelyada, toot-diddelyada
(instrumental)
He puts the boys asleep with boogie every night
Da-dah-da-dah-da
A-a-a-and the company jumps when he plays reveille
(Nominated for Best Song Academy Award for 1941 Popularized by The Andrews Sisters)
Footnote: This was in my opinion one of the best tunes to come out of World War II - I still love to hear it!

The Andrew Sisters are mostly remembered for their music that was rich in sweetness, optimism and harmony. The three sisters were born in Minneapolis, Minnosota and began their careers while still in their teens. Patty, Maxene and LaVerne recorded more than 1,800 songs and sold over 90 million records.
They were very popular with the troops during World War II. In the old Panama Canal Zone the GI's would listen and dance to ther music for hours.
Here are some of my favorites:
Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy
Oh, there were so many other great hits from the Andrew Sisters that we use to listen to on the jukebox in the Clubhouses located in the numerous town sites located throughout the old Canal Zone. It was a very tense time during the war years and the big band swing and boogie woogie music of the Andrew Sisters made it somewhat easier to survive the hardships of the war. In apprecation the troops made them the "America's Wartime Sweethearts."
