"Natura Natura"
A solo exhibition of mixed media works by Heather Randall

6-31 May 2006
Opening reception:  Saturday 6 May 6-9 pm
Gallery hours:  Wed 6-8 pm, Sat-Sun 1-5 pm

Artist’s statement: In this work I have deconstructed and then reconstructed to my own liking the forms in nature, to which I find myself perpetually drawn. My focus is narrow, microscopic at times, although the format onto which I present my work does not always follow. Ideas are drawn from the plant and animal worlds, real and imagined, mundane and mythological.

This workshop focuses on the adhesive and structural nature of wax as a painting and sculptural medium. Encaustic waxes can be used to integrate different materials, both two- and three-dimensional. Its structural properties also allow the wax itself to be cast, carved, textured, built up in relief and modeled. This class is excellent for those who love to work with mixed media. All encaustic supplies will be provided. No prior experience is necessary. Register early, class size is limited. Supply fee to be paid directly to the instructor. Workshop held at artist’s studio at 1400 N 4th St, Philadelphia, PA, please call the office for a list of supplies and for directions.
