ABU DHABI  POSTAL  HISTORY

BRITISH  POSTAL  ADMINISTRATION
(30 March 1963 (Das Island on 1 December 1960) to 31 December 1966)

(POST OFFICES)

The first post office in Abu Dhabi was opened in March 30th, 1963 during the British postal administration in the mud building which had been the premises of the British Bank of the Middle East. At the same date, another post office was opened for Das Island in the Postal Superintendent's Office in Bahrain.

On January 6th, 1966 the Das Island post office was transferred from Bahrain"The Postal Superintendent Office" to the Island and it was initially operated by Abu Dhabi Marine Areas (ADMA) on behalf of the British Postal Agencies.

The post offices in Abu Dhabi during British Postal Administration are:-

1. Abu Dhabi Post Office
2. Das Island Post Office
       i. From March 30th, 1963 to January 5th, 1966 Das Island Post Office was located in Bahrain (In The Postal Superintendent's Office)
      ii. From January 6th, 1966 to December 31st, 1966 in Das Island operated by ADMA.
