The Progenitor of the Lent Family in America was Abraham RYCK he came to Amsterdam in 1638. died 1689: married Greitje HENDRICKS ( daughter of Hendrick Hermanszen ). Resided in New Amsterdam until sometime after 1662 when he settled on the Arme Bouwery in Astoria, Long Island. His son Abraham adopted the name RIKER, but, the other children went by the patronymic Ambramse and the surname of Van Lent or Lent, supposed to have been the family name of their maternal Grandfather Hendrick Hermansen.
