The Jackson Tigers’ Quest 2000 became a realty last Friday night at Taft Stadium. The All-City Express, with an 18-0 edge in two previous stops, was almost derailed. An even-ly played 60 minutes of regulation and an extra 10 of sudden-death ended in a scoreless tie. Taft and Jackson both had coaches and fans pulling their hair out with missed “gifts.”
The officials called for five PK shooters. As the coaches agreed on this list:
1. Chiva Moncaya
2. Carlos Muniz
3. Carlos Mejia
4. David Martinez
5. Francisco Reyes
There was never any doubt about who would fill the nets to stop Taft. Cruz Ramirez had proven himself with 5 shutouts. The first 3 shooters each had Hat Tricks this season; the other two were defensive stars.

2 Taft - Good. 1-1
3 Carlos Muniz - Good. 2-1
4 Taft - Stopped by Cruz!2-1

7 David Martinez - Good. 4-2
8 Taft - Stopped by Cruz! Over! The Official Score of the game goes down as: 1 – 0, Jackson. The Tigers end with a 8-0-1 record, scoring 58 goals and allowing only one! This Title goes with similar championships in 91, 93, and 95. The 97 Jackson squad had the best record but did not commpete in the finals. Jackson also holds ten consecutive Southside Championships.
