This site has been put together especially for the SIU membership as a tool for exploring the various companies available to them, but so often kept 'in the dark' on, especially regarding wages and other hidden and often unpleasant contractual suprises.

  Anyone wishing to submit any information on SIU manned ships and their contracts are urged to E-Mail it to this site. All submissions will always be kept in complete CONFIDENTIALITY. The information you submit will then be posted a.s.a.p. and made available for all.

  The information age is here! You will no longer be kept in the dark about shipping contracts, wages, available Over-Time, and any other type of information you need to know, and have a right to know!, before accepting a position. Knowledge is power, and this site is knowledge!

Note : FAST SEALIFT
A squadron of eight Fast Sealift Roll/On Roll/Off ships are maintained to meet any military surge requirement worldwide.
These ships are normally maintained in a reduced operating status, capable of being fully activated within four days. A nucleus crew of eighteen maintains each ship, with twenty five additional crew members coming aboard for activation.

Five large, medium speed, rebuilt Roll On/Roll Off diesel powered ships to be operated for the U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command by Bay Ship Management are coming online for military resupply and pre-positioning worldwide.

Maersk to put four ships under U.S.-registry, begin new service Maersk Line will transfer the registry of four 1,450-TEU to 1,800-TEU containerships from Denmark to the United States and place them in service between the U.S. east and Gulf coasts and the Mediterranean. Operated by A.P. Moller, they are: the Caroline Maersk (28,550-dwt, built in 1994) which will be renamed Maersk California; the Clifford Maersk (21,825-dwt, built in 1992) which will be named the Maersk Colorado; the Thomas Maersk (25,368-dwt, built in 1994) which will become the Maersk Tennessee and the Tinglev Maersk (25,431-dwt, built in 1994) to be renamed the Maersk Texas. The four will be owned by Maersk Line and Maersk Inc., separate U.S. corporate entities.Info.

Note : The web site Matson will give you all the info you want on Matson Navigation. There is a page for each of their ships listing all the specs as well as a recent photo. Matson is mainly in the business of running between the West Coast and Hawaii, but also runs to the Far East. All of their ships are US flag and the company is a strong supporter of the Jones Act and the US Merchant Marine. Matson has been in continous operation for over 100 years. The engineers are MEBA Dist I, the mates are MMP, the unlicensed deck are SUP, the unlicensed engine are MFOW and the stewards are SIU.
