Strange Land by Austin Wright

There I stand,
Too distant for you to be in my vision,
But steadily I search on.
My vision is blurred,
But in the mind’s eye you appear crystal clear,
A smile painted on the beautiful canvas that is you.
I am alone in this desolate place,
A place of my creation.
I can feel your presence no longer.
That alone changes the scenery before me.
A continually broken heart lies before me,
Never again to be mended by mortal hands.
From it flows blood
A slow, steady stream that sobs in agony.
Memories flood my head,
Convulsing my heart in pain.
In remembrance of you and I,
I fall to my knees,
The blood of lost love splashes my face…

I cry…I cry…

I awake clutching the very pillow I have just dripped tears on.
A tear drops for every time I repeated the words “I love you”,
Leaving my pillow drenched and salty,
Pain extracted liquid.
I reach around me, tears clouding my vision.
I call your name,
Hoping you’re near to take the hand that desperately searches for you,
But to no avail.
Where are you?
Can you see me?
Are you laughing at me?
Or do you feel the same,
In your quiet corner,
Reaching for me?
Or do you care?
I’m reaching for you,
And I love you…
Unrequitted…

Welcome to my world
