Here's the deal (and please hear me out). I can not speak to other radio stations only the one in which I program. I think for you to understand our position on the music we will and will not play (all music not just Hanson), you first have to understand that while radio is fun and we have fun doing what we do, the bottom line is radio is a business. We are in the business to please the majority of the people the majority of the time. In order for us to do that we research the area that we serve and include everyone from age 12 to age 54. This costs the station Tens of thousands of dollars a year to do a complete and fair job. Here's what we have found regarding Hanson. Playing their music to the people we research (we never tell them the names of the singers or groups to avoid any prejudice) shows that while Hanson overall has a very loyal following, that audience only represents 6% of our total audience. That means that 94% of our audience would be forced to hear a song that they don't like or turn the channel. This is true with all the Hanson songs that have been released by their record company. I hope you can understand why we currently don't play any Hanson songs on the air. It's not because I don't like the band or think that they are teenyboppers, fags, etc.., In fact one of my personal favorite songs is "Where's The Love". Don't take it personal. It's a business decision.
