1833 waist belt buckle
"Brian, We e-mailed my cousin a picture of the early military buckle you found. He is the historian for the 1 st armoured division located in Baumholder germany. He I.D.'s the buckle as an 1833 waistbelt buckle. Worn by U.S. Army seargents before the Civil War. If you would have found the other side we would know if he was in the infantry or the artillery by either the cross rifles or crossed cannons between the letters U.S.
Good to see you at the meeting last month."
