Telescope Peak is the highest mountain in the Panamint Range. It is also the highest point in Death Valley National Park. For the curious, there is no direct trail from the floor of the Valley to the summit of this mountain. What a climb that would be though. Over 2 vertical miles ! Nonetheless, the approach from Mahogany Flats is not without it's own challenges and perils. Notice the pitch of the slope on the mountain in the foreground (Bennet). This trail skirts similar slopes which could make those with vertigo quite queasy.
