It was through this forlorn valley that I first got my glimpse of what I was to climb. The road out of Trona was like a road back in time or something. I passed no one in the valley until I reached the trailhead. That was probably a good thing. I drove wide-eyed with my head peering over the sterring wheel most of the way (see below).Perhaps overshadowed by it's more famous sibling to the East, Panamint Valley in no less impressive. The view above looks North and West in the direction of Mt. Whitney. Unfortunately, haze obscurred the view on the day I visted. But when conditions are right, I am told that it is possible to see both the highest and lowest points in the lower 48 from this ridge.
